We had a chance to take an inside tour of the new Central Pizza & Bar, located in Downtown Lafayette at 423 Jefferson Street.
The decor is warm, inviting, and classically rustic. The front windows open into a fully function table for both inside or outside seating. The furniture is made up of mostly dark hardwoods with some of the pieces — old church pews — being bought from the former Irish House Bar in New Orleans.
The menu for Central Pizza is designed by the well-known chef, Collin Cormier, best known from Viva La Waffle, and Pop’s Poboys. And the pizza… it’s going to be great. The pies are cooked — fast — in a brick oven that is heated to 700°F+ with pecan wood.
